Discussions with Dr. Larry Allums and Dr. Scott Churchill
Is film a mirror or a lamp? Does it simply reflect our culture, or does it illuminate as well, revealing our contradictions and our possible future? Does what the Roman poet Horace said about poetry--that it should both delight and instruct--apply also to a good film? And what, exactly, makes a film "good"? If you're a movie fan or aficionado looking for like-minded people with whom to discuss currently playing films, consider this established Institute group. Members meet monthly with film expert Dr. Scott Churchill, who guides movie selections and, along with Dr. Allums, leads the conversations. The final meeting will be for dinner-and-a-classic-movie at the Institute.
